Aloha! I’m Nick Ponte, coming to you from the island of Maui. Through my digital marketing business, I help Hawaii business owners excel in the online marketplace. I’ve been sharing about how you can increase your website’s traffic through SEO tactics and updates to Google’s resources for business owners.

Speaking of websites, one of the best ways we’ve found to get ongoing SEO strategies moving for clients is to start with on-page SEO. When we do a big push of on-page SEO, clients end up with significant, reliable success in the long run.

If you want some simple tips about how to start your own on-page SEO efforts, keep reading!

Why Start with On-page SEO?

Whatever strategies you launch to make your business grow, choose to do things that work both now and in the long run. With enough forethought, you can avoid hiccups and downturns a bit further down the road.

When you build a house, you start with a strong foundation and solid materials. You cover certain parts with insulation and protection, and you top it off with a sturdy roof to keep out the elements of nature. You make decisions based on the longevity you hope to see for the structure.

When you build a website, you should keep a similar idea in mind. However, while you put strategies into place for the sake of seeing results in the long run, you also want to go ahead and make the best changes on the front end, so you see more immediate results.

You can implement on-page SEO to influence how search engines display your site in their results. Google will find keywords, and you’ll see a difference in your ranking over time.

On-page SEO also works as a form of local SEO in organic searches because of the way search engines display results based on user proximity.

Ultimately, it doesn’t take much time or learning about several complicated coding details to get started with on-page SEO strategies. You can implement the changes over time and start seeing results in your website engagement.

I’ve included a few tips here to help you get started.

3 Easy Ways to Start Building On-page SEO for Your Website

These three tips will help you know where to start implementing an on-page SEO strategy:

  • Display Your Business’s Location and Contact Information

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to a website of a business that caught my eye… only to find myself confused about where in the country the business was actually located. When a business doesn’t prominently display simple details about location and how to contact them, they miss out on way too many opportunities to gain new customers.

It’s so easy to include your business name, address, and phone number in a visible place on your website. No business should go without it. You can include it in a cross-page footer, and you can even link to your Google Maps location. Including information about nearby landmarks gets you even more bonus points.

Having this information in prominent places with a consistent format on your site allows search engines the information they need to give to users. When you make the info readily available, it helps to ensure your search engine rankings will improve.

  • Improve Your Website Copy and Content

As you analyze your website, think about ways you can fine-tune your content and copy. Remember, your website is often the first impression potential customers get of your business. (This is even more the case in a world where travel and tourism rules.)

Your goal is for customers to come away from their screens with a favorable impression of your business and a sense that they want to buy from you. You need to be professional, have an attractive layout, and present yourself as the expert you are.

Take an honest look at the quality of your content. Does it communicate information to your customer about your expertise? How about the benefits of using your business in their specific context? Does it answer their most pressing questions?

When you think about the information your customers want to know, you’ll get a better idea about what kind of content you need to include and which keywords will get the best results.

If you don’t already release content through a blog on your website, I highly recommend it. It’s a great way to pump regular content and keywords into search engines.

  • Find Opportunities for Link Building

While we talk about content, let’s talk about a really easy way to get more traction and manipulate search engines in your favor. Make sure you include backlinks throughout your site and in blog posts, linking to previous posts and other locations on your website. Anchor links to service area pages, too.

Links in the text make a great way to lead customers to more information throughout your website, and you can do it almost subversively by including backlinks in the text of your copy. You’ll pique customer interest when they want to find out more about a topic, and you conveniently provide a link where they’re already reading.

We’ll help you dive deeper and faster into SEO, keeping the long-term goals in mind as we create a strategy that gives quality results. If you want to know more about how we can elevate your digital marketing game, reach out to us today!
